I Won!


I'm so excited! I won my first signature challenge!

When I submitted my signature, I never expected to win. I was competing again a lot of very nice designs, and I'm still such a newbie at this. We were all given a tutorial to follow. There is a week for the voting to take place, then they announce the winners the following week. There are several challenges each week. I didn't expect to see my own name on the winners' list.

When I created this siggy, I didn't expect it to have a chance to win, because the original used a Gorjuss tube. I don't have any of those, nor do I ever intend to. I just don't care for the look of them - they seem a bit too cutesy for my tastes. But they are enormously popular, so I knew there would be others that had the proper tube, and lots of fans who would prefer that style over my non-Gorjuss tube. I thought I had little chance of holding up to that scrutiny. And changing the tube really changes the look and feel of a siggy. (I rather felt like I was competing in America's Funniest Videos, and my submission is the one without the babies, kittens or puppies - might as well pack it in, LOL!) I can't believe I won!

I'm doing a happy dance, LOL!

I'm trying out a new hobby. I'm playing around with photo editing software, to learn how to create siggys. I have been dying to learn this, and now I've joined some tutorial groups in hopes of figuring this stuff out. My first tutorial was to learn how to make a very basic siggy. It was fun to play with. Now, I was just playing with the stuff built into the program - nothing fancy. But it was fun! And I came up with something that I didn't think was hideous. The software is already getting a little less scary. Maybe I'll be able to get this figured out one of these days. But for now, baby steps. Autumn Leaves

I love fall leaves! I love the colors, this time of year. I've been looking for some tuts that emphasize this, and this one fit the bill. This was not a complicated tut, and it had a nice look, I thought. But when it was done, I kept wanting to see a leaf flutter to the ground in the background. It suddenly occurred to me that I might have some leaf floaties, and I did! They were a little smaller than I wanted, and a little too many, but what the heck. It looked okay, and it was less work than trying to animate it on my own. Lazy, I know. But I do need more experience with animations before I tackle creating my own floaties. The original tut used animated word art. But I wasn't thrilled with the art, nor was I thrilled with it's lack of definition. I couldn't read it without squinting at it, and it bored me. Pin Up Tutorial #2

I have been working on another tutorial. This time, I got better with using the "magic wand," and I got more experience with using kits and cropping elements. I also played with some photos in this one to get some practice. This software delights me. It's way over my head, but at least I can figure out how to do what I want to do. And I've been able to find tutorials for anything that I haven't been able to discern on my own. I'm not sure if I'm ready to try animation just yet, but it is starting to interest me. I saw this really neat falling heart animation (like glitter) that really appealed to me. I'm going to try to find it, but I'm not really certain where to look. This digital scrapbook stuff is a lot of fun to work on, and it's quite addictive! I should have started this a long time ago. What a terrific creative outlet! I wish I could find some more free Valentine kits, though. I'd like to make more of those. I saw a coup...
