Serenity Prayer, One Year


You've seen me post about my nephew before, the one who is in AA. I did a tag for him for his 9 month anniversary. Well, his buddy had just hit his One Year anniversary, and he asked if I would mind creating something for him, too.

I didn't want to duplicate what I did for my nephew, so I asked him for some suggestions. He mentioned the Serenity Prayer. I'm quite familiar with that prayer. I've carried it on a card in my wallet for decades. But I didn't realize there was more to the prayer. I tried to google it, so that I could just copy and paste the words instead of running the risk of a typo, and I found a longer version! Very cool. And it looks very appropriate for AA. After that, I used my new tube, and applied a stone background, some footsteps and a clock and a key, and came up with a design similar to, but not the same as, the one I did for my nephew.

Preset Shape from a Dingbat Tutorial

I enjoyed learning this. I was to find a dingbat font, and use one of the dingbats to create a preset shape. The dingbat challenge is to help us figure out how to make scrapbook kits, papers, elements, etc. I’m not sure yet how I’ll use it, but it’s good to know anyway. At least now I know there are preset shapes in there, and how to find them. You can find dingbat fonts (free!) that will provide you with most any shape you can imagine. So my first step was to go seeking dingbats. I found lots of them. One that I wanted to try had several different bunnies on it. (I like bunnies a lot, and I collect bunnies.) Uber Newbie

I'm trying out a new hobby. I'm playing around with photo editing software, to learn how to create siggys. I have been dying to learn this, and now I've joined some tutorial groups in hopes of figuring this stuff out. My first tutorial was to learn how to make a very basic siggy. It was fun to play with. Now, I was just playing with the stuff built into the program - nothing fancy. But it was fun! And I came up with something that I didn't think was hideous. The software is already getting a little less scary. Maybe I'll be able to get this figured out one of these days. But for now, baby steps.
